Dare to try white-water rafting?
White-water rafting has been around for quite some years now but it´s still very popular. Many countries around the world offer it and according to the outdoor recreation industry between 2 and 3 million people tried the activity this summer. I, and obviously, many with me, find the activity very fun and exciting but it´s not free of risk.
For example the Arkansas River, one of the favorite places for rafting in the US, had four deaths this season. No one knows why this summer had som many victims in just one place but even with the danger, industry spokesman John Cantamessa said that the sport is safer than more common ones.
So if you want try white-water rafting go for it but remember to always wear protective gear and get safety briefings before you hit the river together with a trained guide! If you should get tossed into the water swim defensively and when you get to calmer waters swim ashore.

You may want to remember that you need specialized travel insurance for this type of sport; your claim may not be eligible if you are injured in an extreme activity otherwise.
